However, even the most organized of us sometimes get bogged down in the details. The built-in smart to-do list system in MyLifeOrganized can be your great assistant, calculating priorities for you. Let's see how it works.<br /></p><p><br /></p><h4 style="text-align: left;">Importance in MyLifeOrganized<br /></h4><p style="text-align: left;">The concept of importance is familiar to most people from the Eisenhower Matrix, where all tasks are divided into important and urgent. When applied to simple linear lists, this approach can be used and it will show correct results.<br /></p><p style="text-align: left;"><br />But what if there are many projects with subtasks, goals, recurring and one-time tasks? When all this is structured in a task tree with unlimited levels of nesting?</p><p style="text-align: left;"></p><p style="text-align: left;">In this case, an effective way to determine priority tasks can be the approach used in the <a href="https://www.mylifeorganized.net/todo-list-windows.shtml"><span style="color: #6aa84f;">task management app for</span></a><a href="https://www.mylifeorganized.net/todo-list-windows.shtml"><span style="color: #6aa84f;"></span></a><span style="color: #6aa84f;"><a href="https://www.mylifeorganized.net/todo-list-windows.shtml"> </a>Windows</span>.<br /><br />The essence of this approach is that the importance of each task is determined directly for the "parent" task, project, or folder in which this task is located. In the case of using a large number of nesting levels, the importance for the final task, like a snowball, either accumulates or decreases along the chain. See the example below.<br /><br />Suppose, we have a project called "Mountain Trip". In order to go on this trip, we need to buy tickets, get insurance, and pack our things. At this level, the most important task will be to buy tickets.<br /><br />The task "Packing" will have the lowest priority. This is not because we don't need to pack our things. It's because even if we forget something, the trip will still happen.<br /><br />However, “Packing” can have a subtask with the highest priority. For example, "Take glasses" is really important if you have poor eyesight and can't see without glasses.<br /></p><p style="text-align: left;"></p><p style="text-align: left;"></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgeig8rK4nSMVp8mwUlMtwRLtYj9f9CJpUI7zYvtuHS-62IIYQEpOSbRexsxwsdofR59pANC0pgtGGLIzi73wiSFiwctNdWhc_j41_cEqJJxNfUzA49RCEqvESYzbo9y_MMcUSTGOvn7IKzJwOrhZSs0nM5DItoV9lujuFF81vDu5dq6euq-uxtE1_IPedz/s16000/importance1.jpg" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="698" data-original-width="1402" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgeig8rK4nSMVp8mwUlMtwRLtYj9f9CJpUI7zYvtuHS-62IIYQEpOSbRexsxwsdofR59pANC0pgtGGLIzi73wiSFiwctNdWhc_j41_cEqJJxNfUzA49RCEqvESYzbo9y_MMcUSTGOvn7IKzJwOrhZSs0nM5DItoV9lujuFF81vDu5dq6euq-uxtE1_IPedz/s16000/importance1.jpg" /></a></div><br /><p></p><p style="text-align: left;">If we switch to the To-Do tab, we will see the tasks in this order:<br /></p><p style="text-align: left;"><b></b></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><b><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2fgRpJKQ4qcUwJoNv6FyGAxu_yzHHZJxWYv87SkRYrpml_r7p1vF0kb9ATka2A7J8TfT9jcVKH6RqtkgPF32wGK4mi4AOlYNLyE9BNUblCoejv80aN7m8-LdNQR3MBSBZb7x-uqS9fcJyP1vWqfidzYBTZ2zyTyL8V3yL81Qy6nykTs78DZJUZ03NEOfj/s1269/importance2.jpg" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="524" data-original-width="1269" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2fgRpJKQ4qcUwJoNv6FyGAxu_yzHHZJxWYv87SkRYrpml_r7p1vF0kb9ATka2A7J8TfT9jcVKH6RqtkgPF32wGK4mi4AOlYNLyE9BNUblCoejv80aN7m8-LdNQR3MBSBZb7x-uqS9fcJyP1vWqfidzYBTZ2zyTyL8V3yL81Qy6nykTs78DZJUZ03NEOfj/s16000/importance2.jpg" /></a></b></div><b></b><p></p><ul style="text-align: left;"><li>"Book tickets" is at the top of the list because the task itself has a max priority + its parent has a high priority.</li><li>Next come tasks from the "Bookings & Documents" branch, which have normal priority, but the parent task has a high priority.</li><li>then the important task "Take glasses" from the not so important task branch "Packing".</li><li>and so on.<br /> </li></ul><p style="text-align: left;">As you can see, the importance property affects the order in which the task will be displayed in To-Do. <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">When managing tasks, it's crucial to ensure that all relevant details are assigned and nothing falls through the cracks. Checklist is a good tool for achieving this level of organization in the <a href="https://www.mylifeorganized.net/todo-list-windows.shtml" target="_blank"><span style="color: #444444;">task </span><span style="color: #444444;">manage</span></a><span style="color: #444444;">r</span><span style="color: #6aa84f;"> </span>MyLifeOrganized.</div><p><br /></p><p>A checklist helps to make sure that:
</p><ul style="text-align: left;"><li>all delegated tasks have a due date</li><li>all active tasks have context</li><li>all big tasks are broken down into next actions.</li><li>etc.</li></ul><p> </p><p>To implement this approach, consider creating views that check tasks based on different conditions. For instance, the following view displays tasks flagged 'Delegated' that are missing a due date:</p><p> </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh8TECrHWdzqZNyY5aS7i00PFCNsiJ16Yl7UKu4J1OEAInrWYQbzjCrrhhwk2rxyJ9iTdjFdrl0hXNML9go4GoNeCjuwGBSKTmCSyfF-fJxqWLQbkOGDl-kXlvG0O6FufqsJmkEIdlHtjWD4ZlMufTx8JMFNjwEhKUTpysU3ap5hljoNOILpk_LVcWaGHi0/s800/control-checklist-en.gif" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="333" data-original-width="800" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh8TECrHWdzqZNyY5aS7i00PFCNsiJ16Yl7UKu4J1OEAInrWYQbzjCrrhhwk2rxyJ9iTdjFdrl0hXNML9go4GoNeCjuwGBSKTmCSyfF-fJxqWLQbkOGDl-kXlvG0O6FufqsJmkEIdlHtjWD4ZlMufTx8JMFNjwEhKUTpysU3ap5hljoNOILpk_LVcWaGHi0/s16000/control-checklist-en.gif" /></a></div><p></p><br /><p> </p><p>Once the due date is assigned, the list automatically clears in this view, providing a visual cue that nothing has been overlooked.</p><p> </p><div><h4 style="text-align: left;">How to set up the view<br /></h4><p style="text-align: left;">For the view from our example, you need to enable in the settings: <br /><br />1. Is there a way to set a
reminder the day before each time and on the due date?
<p style="text-align: left;"><br /></p>
<p style="text-align: left;">
<b><u>Solution</u></b>: Reminder follows the recurrence pattern you set for the task. It works
the same on desktop and mobile. It is most convenient to set it up on the
desktop computer and synchronize the changes with the mobile app.
</p>
<p>
<span class="VIiyi" lang="en" style="color: #666666;"><span><i> </i></span></span>
</p>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQsPhEe88qJh1tqbtgBVZ8_SmgiaeqbpCslIPBbSvQ4eajnycMau4aY2fSj6BQ4V-BODpg1GCxPJU4vcw5Q_z20iUO3YO9E9iXGjDH4mxkNiE1M2f_lXDfwDtnq2laPpAkCmRhKc3QNGyZc4MrQlf2PgaM8NuPtole4jVIJI5ldfnsEU1KwbczPtanog/s1200/recurring_reminders.jpg"><img border="0" data-original-height="630" data-original-width="1200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQsPhEe88qJh1tqbtgBVZ8_SmgiaeqbpCslIPBbSvQ4eajnycMau4aY2fSj6BQ4V-BODpg1GCxPJU4vcw5Q_z20iUO3YO9E9iXGjDH4mxkNiE1M2f_lXDfwDtnq2laPpAkCmRhKc3QNGyZc4MrQlf2PgaM8NuPtole4jVIJI5ldfnsEU1KwbczPtanog/s16000/recurring_reminders.jpg" /></a>
</div>
<p style="text-align: left;"></p>
<h4 style="text-align: left;"> </h4><h4 style="text-align: left;">Adding a single reminder</h4>
<p style="text-align: left;">
For example, you set a recurrence every 4 days, starting tomorrow. For the
reminder to go off the day before the recurrence, you need to set the
reminder for today:
</p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><br /></p>
<p style="text-align: left;"></p>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg_tA-7u4yqIE8kPhmHgpTAX78jCWS7hyX17T02eFPOCyhcjnXJVeQ4aRVtEwkw-_sVL0rVJjKoOSAMpsUWRMkuEzm1t-L9Gc7GAZojM9XrcRoejmb8EPo3nJMQVeIq0aJ9DFES-WoPu5oqRwp1w1UfVRIkI5SSKMvVF1c7DldjkilTbzeMR_DMjgrn9w/s2074/repeating%20reminder1.png" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="510" data-original-width="2074" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg_tA-7u4yqIE8kPhmHgpTAX78jCWS7hyX17T02eFPOCyhcjnXJVeQ4aRVtEwkw-_sVL0rVJjKoOSAMpsUWRMkuEzm1t-L9Gc7GAZojM9XrcRoejmb8EPo3nJMQVeIq0aJ9DFES-WoPu5oqRwp1w1UfVRIkI5SSKMvVF1c7DldjkilTbzeMR_DMjgrn9w/s16000/repeating%20reminder1.png" /></a>
</div>
<p></p>
<br />
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<p>
<span class="VIiyi" lang="en" style="color: #666666; font-size: 14px;"><span><i>
Tip: Enable "Next Alert Time" column to see when the next time the
reminder will go off.</i></span></span>
</p>
</div>
<br />
<div>
<p>
Once the reminder goes off, click to dismiss it. Tomorrow when you complete
a task, you will see that the next reminder is updated to one day before the
next occurrence.
</p>
<p><br /></p>
<h4 style="text-align: left;">Adding a second reminder</h4>
<p style="text-align: left;">
There is no way to set multiple reminders for a task, but there is a
workaround. You can add a subtask to the recurring task and set a reminder
for it on the due date. <br /><br />Also, for the parent recurring task
enable "automatically recur when all subtasks are completed". Here is a
screenshot of the settings:
</p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><br /></p>
<p style="text-align: left;"></p>
<p style="text-align: left;"></p>
<p style="text-align: left;"></p>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

</div>
<br /><br /><br /><br /><br />The subtask is what you will see in To-Do. Once
you complete it or its parent task, it will be switched to the next recurrence
keeping the reminders: the first reminder one day before and the second on the
due date.</div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div><br /><span class="VIiyi" lang="en" style="color: #666666; font-size: 14px;"><span><i>Tip: Learn more about recurring tasks in task management app </i></span></span><a href="https://www.mylifeorganized.net/support/recurring-tasks/"><span class="VIiyi" lang="en" style="color: #6aa84f; font-size: 14px;"><span><i>MyLifeOrganized</i></span></span></a><span class="VIiyi" lang="en" style="color: #666666; font-size: 14px;"><span><i>. </i></span></span>

But how to use it?<br /></p><p><br /></p><p>Probably, your first thought would be to open the standard 'Projects' view and set a hierarchy filter for the child items. It seems logical, but in this case all(!) projects would be shown: projects that have the required subtasks, and projects that do not. In our case, we want to show only the projects with subtasks scheduled for this week.</p><p><br /></p><h4 style="text-align: left;">How to set up<br /></h4><p>1. Use the main filter to find tasks that have a due date on or before this week.</p><p><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiSpOkRBKUNeut4M7ZGoDxpvkGSGvOoJM50HxhehnsDd8QEafrg09MrgRKX84mVT1MD7ZjbRwjzd6PS4DVBS3yjN1hhKjDOM0bKniCH2L5z6rBnzrkNFLGmac6CoGMMcBjVz83l5NajR4n2tnVMo5dd5LinkuQ6NsijwcDW8az-IX2FI-WtTa1SECIy7g/s1709/Screenshot_1.png" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="498" data-original-width="1709" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiSpOkRBKUNeut4M7ZGoDxpvkGSGvOoJM50HxhehnsDd8QEafrg09MrgRKX84mVT1MD7ZjbRwjzd6PS4DVBS3yjN1hhKjDOM0bKniCH2L5z6rBnzrkNFLGmac6CoGMMcBjVz83l5NajR4n2tnVMo5dd5LinkuQ6NsijwcDW8az-IX2FI-WtTa1SECIy7g/s16000/Screenshot_1.png" /></a></div><br /><p><br /><br />2. And see the total number of points earned for the day? This is needed to motivate you to meet all the goals.<br /><br /><u>Solution</u>: Instead of using points, you can use the effort field to track your progress.<br /><br /></p><h4 style="text-align: left;">How to set up</h4><p>1. Create a project "Target for the day". </p><p> </p><p>Set the effort for it to 0. This is to ensure that the completion of the project itself is not counted in the project completion percentage. If the effort is set to 0 for the project, then progress will show 100% when all the subtasks are completed.<br /><br />2. Add subtasks. For example, I plan 5 tasks for today:</p><p><br /></p><ul style="text-align: left;"><li>Task 1: difficult, set effort to maximum.</li><li>Task 2: medium difficulty, normal effort</li><li>Task 3: medium difficulty, normal effort</li><li>Task 4: easy, less effort</li><li>Task 5: easy, less effort.</li></ul><p><br />3. Enable the "Project Completion %" column.</p><p><br />The percentage of progress for the entire project is calculated upon completion of the subtasks.</p><p><br />4. You can also create a Trigger&Action, so that when the project is completed (i.e. when all targets for the day are met) an achievement message is shown:</p><p> </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_OKr3Kecmo82UXqCFLOTTK8X-zlr4b6faTrSFRcqKNVmK9AAvDeZmRAI_dj-NSKioWDqj6coxdc9pWFw6-H9TfmBUN1ESPA7cFsQZVE_K1BHUWUqYBFP2SF_s9bu2SD2S3kfSUM5uXWts_QcE91vxSXz5usr8SccGWqdYQwYiabfpOk7wag75Qm6pUg/s600/target-for-the-da-en.gif" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="246" data-original-width="600" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_OKr3Kecmo82UXqCFLOTTK8X-zlr4b6faTrSFRcqKNVmK9AAvDeZmRAI_dj-NSKioWDqj6coxdc9pWFw6-H9TfmBUN1ESPA7cFsQZVE_K1BHUWUqYBFP2SF_s9bu2SD2S3kfSUM5uXWts_QcE91vxSXz5usr8SccGWqdYQwYiabfpOk7wag75Qm6pUg/s16000/target-for-the-da-en.gif" /></a></div><br /><p><br /></p><p></p><br /><p></p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><p><span class="VIiyi" lang="en"><span class="VIiyi" lang="en"><span class="JLqJ4b" data-language-for-alternatives="en" data-language-to-translate-into="ru" data-number-of-phrases="1" data-phrase-index="0"><span class="Q4iAWc"><span style="color: #666666;"><span style="font-size: 16px;"><i>Tip. </i></span></span></span></span></span><span style="color: #666666;"><i>You can find this option in Tools → Options → Triggers&Actions.</i></span></span></p></div>MyLifeOrganizedhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18358547506488461542noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-550035850203632179.post-31834436742462210472023-03-02T12:48:00.008-08:002023-03-13T12:27:58.845-07:00New in MLO 6 Windows: New task from template <p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhBT6YxDUFKWz3tiOtpJMdFVGPMobAGWR8YKSO3pZo4MTgsh9hG9n2yxM-KI1YUlDymppTN2Qv5RiOkIqUsC3ZdaYo3qsFuoMc5Iow3lfaXjRHuzPbWZUSuhQdmSrkOpYfaNulDgU5k_ewolZmnn0eX3egOiIDnMWXCjM9WgwQ2mGBj6mpq2N9CEKeAug/s1200/new_from_template.jpg" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="630" data-original-width="1200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhBT6YxDUFKWz3tiOtpJMdFVGPMobAGWR8YKSO3pZo4MTgsh9hG9n2yxM-KI1YUlDymppTN2Qv5RiOkIqUsC3ZdaYo3qsFuoMc5Iow3lfaXjRHuzPbWZUSuhQdmSrkOpYfaNulDgU5k_ewolZmnn0eX3egOiIDnMWXCjM9WgwQ2mGBj6mpq2N9CEKeAug/s16000/new_from_template.jpg" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div>In the new version of our <a href="https://www.mylifeorganized.net/announcements/windows-mlo-6-upgrade.shtml" target="_blank"><span style="color: #6aa84f;">task manager for Windows</span></a> we added a a simple solution for creating typical tasks. Please update<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEguduc5RbN4lfeDKdkYk_r1nfU74tSKGvBwfNQNRoj5L7asYGTs0R3xbRDm2R3tQkiuAe5aZp9LyAXxeqiWUmxDiKdevg62wSez201HFF3hn89ZmPebzqvJdVHZ6q31yPdZvNtLtofG-HFoTz-LuEL1zqNh75k072C3eqFmjZGXCQfZAwCYpSb0T-twiA/s1200/info1.jpg" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="630" data-original-width="1200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEguduc5RbN4lfeDKdkYk_r1nfU74tSKGvBwfNQNRoj5L7asYGTs0R3xbRDm2R3tQkiuAe5aZp9LyAXxeqiWUmxDiKdevg62wSez201HFF3hn89ZmPebzqvJdVHZ6q31yPdZvNtLtofG-HFoTz-LuEL1zqNh75k072C3eqFmjZGXCQfZAwCYpSb0T-twiA/s16000/info1.jpg" /></a></div><p>We would like to inform you that we have <b>fixed a serious problem with Cut&Paste</b> in the dark theme in version 6.0.0. We identified the root cause and developed an understanding on a possible fix on Friday, and on the weekend it was fixed and tested. A release with a fix was released on Monday. </p><p> </p><p>It is very<b> important for everyone to update to the new 6.0.1 version.</b> </p><p> </p><p>It is also important for us to be open, therefore we would like to explain what happened in more detail below.<br /><br /></p><p></p><h3 style="text-align: left;">What was the problem and who is affected</h3><p>The error appeared ONLY in the dark theme:</p><ul style="text-align: left;"><li> if the dark theme is enabled and you cut/paste the task, instead of transferring it, a full duplicate of it is created</li><li>during synchronization, only one of these duplicate tasks is transferred to the second device</li><li>if you delete one of the duplicates, and *synchronize*, then all tasks (the original one and all its duplicates) are deleted <br /></li></ul><p><br /></p><p><u><i>Note.</i></u> If you did not cut the task (Cut/Paste) while in the *dark theme*, this error does not concern you. But it is still necessary to update to 6.0.1 with the fix as soon as possible.<br /><br /></p><h3 style="text-align: left;">What to do if you cut tasks in dark theme and synched</h3><ul style="text-align: left;"><li>If you did not delete duplicate tasks, the new version 6.0.1 will automatically correct the situation. After that, the remaining duplicate tasks can be safely deleted, leaving only one.</li><li>If in version 6.0.0 you deleted duplicate tasks and *synchronized*, then the lost tasks must be restored from the backup (see below).</li></ul><p> </p><p>Users who have been with us for a long time know that we always try to communicate publicly about any serious problems we notice and analyze them to get better. Fortunately, thanks to our well-established processes, these things don't happen very often.<br /><br /></p><h3 style="text-align: left;">Why it is important to back up data</h3><p>Security of user data is our highest priority. That is why for the desktop version we have created an advanced system of backups of your local files, which the application recommends to set up. Please do not ignore this recommendation.</p><p> </p><p>If set up correctly, the following backup copies are created:</p><p><br /></p><ul style="text-align: left;"><li>the most recent 5 copies</li><li>one backup file at the beginning of each day</li><li>one backup file at the beginning of each week and month</li></ul><p> </p><p>Thus, in case of accidental deletion or error, you can find the lost task in the backup for the desired date and transfer it back to the main file.<br /><br /></p><h4 style="text-align: left;">How to restore a lost task from a backup</h4><p>1. Find the backup file (extension *.bak) for the required date in the folder configured for storing backups (check it in menu Tools -> Options -> Backup)</p><p>2. Make a copy of the backup file, just in case.</p><p>3. Open this backup copy in MLO</p><p>4. If you use Cloud synchronization, the application will ask if you want to synchronize this backup file with the cloud. <br />Answer NO so that the synchronization does not delete the tasks in the backup file</p><p>5. Find the required tasks and copy them to your main file.<br /><br /><i>Tip: To open two data files enable this option: menu Tools -> Options -> Behavior -> Allow Multiple instances)</i></p><p> </p><h3 style="text-align: left;">More details about the bug<br /></h3><p>If you are interested, here are some technical details from Andriy Tkachuk about the nature of the bug and why it was difficult to detect:</p><p><br /></p><ul style="text-align: left;"><li>When you start the application, the main window is created, the descriptor of which never changes under normal conditions (i.e. the main window as an object is not destroyed while the application is running)</li><li>However, in my implementation of the dark theme I missed the point that the library used in its depths completely recreates the main app window, and as a result its descriptor changes</li><li>Since the first versions of the application, this descriptor has been saved by several objects during initialization for subsequent sending of messages to the window (updating counters, deleting tasks after cutting, handling global hotkeys)</li><li>As a result, when switching to the dark theme, these messages continued to be sent to the old handle, which no longer existed. No error occurred, but no one processed the message either.</li><li>When cutting a task, a message was sent to delete the cut task in the old place after creating a full copy in the new one. But the message was not processed. A complete copy of the task with the same ID appeared.</li></ul><p> </p><p>During several months of testing, neither we nor the beta testers noticed this problem. We apologize for this situation.<br /> <br />Thanks to everyone who provided details and allowed us to analyze bit by bit, quickly fix the problem and draw conclusions!<br /></p>MyLifeOrganizedhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18358547506488461542noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-550035850203632179.post-45044133354467273882023-02-10T08:10:00.000-08:002023-02-10T08:10:21.761-08:00Open/closed context hours - now on Android<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhVCZ5nW0ZNnlkCT2bH5d9jVFFCDDXREpiiZ00ymAWO6sA-zrys_Vc_Ik5minjWwgpnVeigF2ct0Z-tZEm0Hk9FXWp7FqNrtyE-LAo8_zkyMRrvLSfR7iJ_aSpTYFczoPHyLIOgZjtP3L5A37MWHLUDT_XE4nd3j5J-7Iod4qt76mgoY_-mPwYXTL0zOw/s1200/context-hours-blog.png" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="630" data-original-width="1200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhVCZ5nW0ZNnlkCT2bH5d9jVFFCDDXREpiiZ00ymAWO6sA-zrys_Vc_Ik5minjWwgpnVeigF2ct0Z-tZEm0Hk9FXWp7FqNrtyE-LAo8_zkyMRrvLSfR7iJ_aSpTYFczoPHyLIOgZjtP3L5A37MWHLUDT_XE4nd3j5J-7Iod4qt76mgoY_-mPwYXTL0zOw/s16000/context-hours-blog.png" /></a></div><br /><p><br /></p><p>You can now change open/closed hours for contexts on Android!</p><p><br /></p><p>How it works: A context can be open or closed at certain time. They weren't designed for that, so this was a nice surprise to us from our beta testers!</p><p><br /></p><p>No magic here though. You definitely need to take some time to set up the views you want to open in each column, but then the dashboard works pretty well. The view in the columns “ToDo”, “Doing” and “Waiting” shows tasks filtered by flag. “Done” shows completed tasks, and “Backlog” shows tasks that have no flag.</p><p><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhCEktEPib8pVRt2d8B0thlZBtu5NPW1OaSRlFm3WbeQT5VBzHJrGqtTSRYWGFkF8L6s6za0BfO58OjipusovkWR-8P5jjANoWwgA-8esg5DJTsDDvmtAe4LNkF6CzEmcNuVTwNAwS2jnpBpZKvuJo9g1cR392lCtwOAoCFWS0Ao6cijDzhSTcBEKd6vw/s1903/kanban.jpg" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="614" data-original-width="1903" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhCEktEPib8pVRt2d8B0thlZBtu5NPW1OaSRlFm3WbeQT5VBzHJrGqtTSRYWGFkF8L6s6za0BfO58OjipusovkWR-8P5jjANoWwgA-8esg5DJTsDDvmtAe4LNkF6CzEmcNuVTwNAwS2jnpBpZKvuJo9g1cR392lCtwOAoCFWS0Ao6cijDzhSTcBEKd6vw/s16000/kanban.jpg" /></a></div><p></p><p style="text-align: left;"><span class="VIiyi" lang="en"><span class="JLqJ4b" data-language-for-alternatives="en" data-language-to-translate-into="ru" data-number-of-phrases="1" data-phrase-index="0"><span class="Q4iAWc"><span style="color: #666666;"><span style="font-size: 16px;"><i>Tip. </i></span></span></span></span></span><i><span style="color: #666666;">For your convenience, we've saved this configuration. Make the season more enjoyable by stopping stress in its tracks with the tips from MyLifeOrganized users. </span></div><div><br /></div><div>Christmas is a time of the year we all love… or hate? Many researchers tell us the disturbing truth about the Christmas season. Searching for the perfect gifts, making travel plans, hosting and attending parties, organising family events, as well as dealing with nosy relatives you haven't seen for months, — all of that under pressure of wrapping up projects at work and meeting end-of-year deadlines. Balancing all this can easily make you feel burnt out. </div><div><br /></div><div>Some stress roots from feeling like you have not achieved enough in the year, some from financial pressure from overspending, as well as frequent end-year meetings and drinking sessions. </div><div><br /></div><div>Recognize yourself? You are not alone in your totally justifiable Grinchy mood. But keeping up with all the commitments doesn’t have to drain you of your holiday cheer. Users of the MyLifeOrganized <a href="https://www.mylifeorganized.net/" target="_blank"><span style="color: #6aa84f;">to-do</span> <span style="color: #6aa84f;">app</span></a> highlight five simple but effective ways to prepare for a stress-less Christmas season. </div><div><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: left;">1. Plan ahead</h4><div>Having a global vision of the year ahead is essential. Organising all your projects, tasks and ideas into one tree gives you a big picture that clearly shows you in which directions you should go. </div><div><br /></div><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiH02cddCoA1aCLxYVt_KAUxhadnOVu-oVmyB49_HPEaPx-xxLBwiFEkD9McTNnLxYfZuOzypQ4cvSyqESKYwvx80s5S2VZeGeaZs3_0UNAQVNjq5qDtFiGWPFALQDyg2ZOaNgxAer6_R4OgwA-ddKdqHHxY70OXq6yo2Gvdj0JxiZ6gn6DA-ZWWMjvQw/s2050/outline2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img alt="The hierarchical list is easy to navigate and zoom into" border="0" data-original-height="1152" data-original-width="2050" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiH02cddCoA1aCLxYVt_KAUxhadnOVu-oVmyB49_HPEaPx-xxLBwiFEkD9McTNnLxYfZuOzypQ4cvSyqESKYwvx80s5S2VZeGeaZs3_0UNAQVNjq5qDtFiGWPFALQDyg2ZOaNgxAer6_R4OgwA-ddKdqHHxY70OXq6yo2Gvdj0JxiZ6gn6DA-ZWWMjvQw/s16000/outline2.jpg" title="The hierarchical list is easy to navigate and zoom into" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">The hierarchical list is easy to navigate and zoom into</td></tr></tbody></table><div><blockquote>MLO features unlimited Outline depth, allowing for splitting big tasks into smaller-actionable items. The hierarchical list is easy to navigate and zoom/focus into.
MLO is structured to integrate and segregate home life and professional life in one application. It’s brilliant. The GUI is excellent too. </blockquote></div><div>- D Byrd, MLO user </div><div><blockquote>MLO’s real strength is its ability to simultaneously break tasks down into tree form and cross reference items with who, what, where, why,..... and any other context that is important to you</blockquote>- Nick, MLO User<br /><br />Based on your input, MLO then automatically builds a smart list of action items that demand your urgent attention based on the properties you specified: due dates, contexts, dependencies, and other.
This way, while planning, use Outline, and when doing, use a simple To-Do list. </div><div><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: left;">2. Set goals </h4><div>Goals help stay motivated when you realize that you’re doing something for a reason and not just randomly acting. It’s easy to mark such tasks as goals, separate them from your everyday actions and consciously spend your energy on their implementation. </div><div><br /></div><div>Even build your system of <a href="https://blog.mylifeorganized.net/2020/09/achieve-more-with-goals.html" target="_blank"><span style="color: #6aa84f;">goals</span></a>, where a weekly goal is what should ultimately lead you towards the goal of the month, and then that monthly goal to the goal of the year. </div><div><br /></div><div>You can use the Rule of Three from the Agile Results methodology: rather than get overwhelmed by your tasks, set 3 and only 3 outcomes for a timeframe – daily, weekly, monthly and yearly. </div><div><br /></div><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhoHcBX_8JUFdeZvEKduJz2YOZTiuNlvoHU6PRB9qnVScwvZJ785zt8Nw9a3s9MISCRR7kov52mHXZFYLDmH_kltQrwT3pIv_oZu7938WryoF1YRcdlmupjtoUxjCgz-fADR61TtnFlnDKxVoe5ZqC1ft1nzC3ikXzK3QQAUTU5w4EU1X_C2TGaVqwLqw/s1563/goals4.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img alt="Focus on three goals daily, weekly, monthly and yearly." border="0" data-original-height="532" data-original-width="1563" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhoHcBX_8JUFdeZvEKduJz2YOZTiuNlvoHU6PRB9qnVScwvZJ785zt8Nw9a3s9MISCRR7kov52mHXZFYLDmH_kltQrwT3pIv_oZu7938WryoF1YRcdlmupjtoUxjCgz-fADR61TtnFlnDKxVoe5ZqC1ft1nzC3ikXzK3QQAUTU5w4EU1X_C2TGaVqwLqw/s16000/goals4.png" title="Focus on three goals daily, weekly, monthly and yearly." /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><span style="text-align: left;">Focus on three goals daily, weekly, monthly and yearly</span></div></td></tr></tbody></table><h4 style="text-align: left;">3. Review </h4><div>MyLifeOrganized has the special <span style="color: #6aa84f;"><a href="https://blog.mylifeorganized.net/2021/02/review.html" target="_blank"><span style="color: #6aa84f;">Review</span></a> </span>feature that allows you to get a list of tasks you want to review periodically. This is especially necessary when troubleshooting things that slow down your progress. Or determining where you need to change the way you perform tasks, reprioritize subtasks or redo the whole approach. </div><div><br /></div><div>Also, it is good to review tasks (ideas, plans, and paused projects) that are constantly ignored while you are busy doing the most urgent and important things. </div><div><br /></div><div>Got a new Inbox item and don't know what to do with it next? Just ask yourself: can I postpone making a decision? If so, hide it in "To Do" and add it to "Review." No need to set dates or reminders.</div><div><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: left;">4. Set task dependencies </h4><div><br /></div><div>Multitasking is a myth, as multiple <span style="color: #6aa84f;"><a href="https://www.ucsf.edu/news/2011/04/98360/ucsf-study-multitasking-reveals-switching-glitch-aging-brain" target="_blank"><span style="color: #6aa84f;">studies</span></a> </span>have confirmed. People who think they can split their attention between multiple tasks at once aren’t actually getting more done. In fact, they’re doing less and worse, getting more stressed out. </div><div><br /></div><div>Don’t worry about tasks that you can't do without completing others. With the <a href="https://www.mylifeorganized.net/support/dependency/" target="_blank"><span style="color: #6aa84f;">Dependency </span></a>option you can temporarily block tasks and projects that you can’t actually do now. Once you complete the current task, this will immediately unlock the next ones and automatically update your to-do list. </div><div><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: left;">5. Build habits with recurring tasks </h4><div>One more important point in fighting procrastination is to turn <span style="color: #6aa84f;"><a href="https://www.mylifeorganized.net/support/recurring-tasks/" target="_blank"><span style="color: #6aa84f;">repeating tasks</span></a> </span>into habits. Check your Inbox every morning, do exercise for 15 minutes during your break, read/study for at least 30 minutes per day, etc. MLO offers extremely flexible settings and prevents you from forgetting or neglecting such things. </div><div><br /></div><div>After all, MLO was created to make life easier and minimise annoying routine stress. </div><div><blockquote>My perfect Christmas starts early, in September, when me and the team start polishing our very anticipated gifts for customers. It’s our tradition to release a new major version before Christmas. And this year, despite all the hardship the war has brought to our lives in Ukraine, we're working hard to release a new desktop version and to make planning with MLO your real superpower. My to-do list for the end of 2022 is somewhat specific, so to speak, as it is filled with tasks such as starlink, power generators, and donations to help my country survive the coming winter. However, there is still room on my list for classic tasks: buying gifts, cooking, and calling people I love.</blockquote></div><div>- Andriy Tkachuk, the founder and CEO of MyLifeOrganized </div><div><br /></div><div>Your stress-free Christmas is not a magical gift, it is a real planning process. With realistic planning and some positive thinking, you can definitely feel fulfilled, find peace and joy during the holidays!</div>MyLifeOrganizedhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18358547506488461542noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-550035850203632179.post-1622462850196921202022-11-30T04:46:00.002-08:002022-11-30T04:47:31.773-08:00Back home. Our team continues to work on your favorite <a href="https://www.mylifeorganized.net/" target="_blank"><span style="color: #6aa84f;">task management app</span></a> in Ukraine during the war. We gain incredible experience in staying sane and productive. </p><p><br /></p><p>Like our whole country, we are struggling to live a normal life on top of the crisis, suffering from everyday blackouts, sleepless nights, constant stress, and anxiety. Yet, while coming through all this our team stays on top of productivity and keeps going forward. The only mystery receipt hidden behind our high performance is the ORGANIZED ROUTINE!</p><p><br /></p><p>We found that following a daily routine is the best way to deal with all the hardships the war has brought. The main problem was to focus on something, as 60% of the time was lost on doomscrolling the news feed. Later we realized that instead of dwelling on the problems we can’t resolve, we should focus on what we can actually do. This makes us at least a little happier.</p><p><br /></p><p>The MLO app has always been at hand. It helped us to plan and control our actions, and most of all to concentrate. We re-discovered the MLO key features once again. The app has all the necessary tools for staying focused and efficient no matter what. The top 3 useful features we can highlight:</p><h4 style="text-align: left;"><br /></h4><h4 style="text-align: left;">Subtasks in order</h4><p>Doing one task at a time is the key to progress. In MLO the next task can only appear after you complete the current one. You feel relieved, and To-Do list does not look overloaded.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><iframe allowfullscreen="" class="BLOG_video_class" height="361" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/lzLoIvcOoXA" width="601" youtube-src-id="lzLoIvcOoXA"></iframe></div><p><br /></p><h4 style="text-align: left;">Dependencies</h4><p>Dependency allows you to build non-linear schemes of projects. Thus the completion of one task has an impact on other projects, and not only opens access to the next task on its branch.</p><p><br /></p><p>Some of our personal tasks are now put on hold. We and our tasks are expecting the time when the war is over and simple things like travels are back again.</p><h4 style="text-align: left;"><br /></h4><h4 style="text-align: left;">Repeating Tasks</h4><p>Setting up Repeating Tasks helps to turn routine actions into habits, and not to forget or neglect them.</p><p><br /></p><p>Following this simple strategy is bringing us closer to our current goal - the release of MyLifeOrganized 6 for Windows! It will be out very soon and will include even more options for keeping things under control. Imagine the Dashboard that will let you see a big picture. Track how all your projects are doing and what task needs your immediate attention. This way you won’t miss a thing.</p><p><br /></p><p>We are very proud to be working on such an essential product for people's peace of mind. Hard to believe, but the new version will be even more useful. Stay tuned!</p>MyLifeOrganizedhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18358547506488461542noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-550035850203632179.post-52730926913924371242022-09-16T08:57:00.004-07:002022-10-06T04:48:04.980-07:00Tips&Tricks: Auto-recurrence if any subtask is completed<p></p><p></p><p></p><p></p><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhcftXvnhwGEEu_WrzkralzVfq_Tj93OAscRcP_BnEdjQ6vB36oSCimCeNBJYusor_NUvPAaFzoJu5s1PKVknCQSTM-G2k1usc-ndT-lXYJhe1U6duzoQ8VNMcXsuKhzXJBOLmAwCneVMusoayrSP3BJtqPTk4l8wZTfLmcUzx8L3oZwYKSXuIWRme3jg/s1200/recurring-task-gym3.jpg" style="clear: left; margin-bottom: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="630" data-original-width="1200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhcftXvnhwGEEu_WrzkralzVfq_Tj93OAscRcP_BnEdjQ6vB36oSCimCeNBJYusor_NUvPAaFzoJu5s1PKVknCQSTM-G2k1usc-ndT-lXYJhe1U6duzoQ8VNMcXsuKhzXJBOLmAwCneVMusoayrSP3BJtqPTk4l8wZTfLmcUzx8L3oZwYKSXuIWRme3jg/s16000/recurring-task-gym3.jpg" /></a></div><br /><p></p><p></p><p></p><p><span class="VIiyi" lang="en"><span class="JLqJ4b" data-language-for-alternatives="en" data-language-to-translate-into="ru" data-number-of-phrases="1" data-phrase-index="0"><span class="Q4iAWc">Continuing the topic of flexible task <a href="https://blog.mylifeorganized.net/2022/08/tips-daily-routine-tasks-one-by-one.html" target="_blank"><span style="color: #6aa84f;">recurrence</span> </a>setup in MyLifeOrganized <a href="https://www.mylifeorganized.net/" target="_blank"><span style="color: #444444;">task manager</span></a>, we would like to give you another example </span></span></span><span class="VIiyi" lang="en"><span class="JLqJ4b" data-language-for-alternatives="en" data-language-to-translate-into="ru" data-number-of-phrases="1" data-phrase-index="0"><span class="Q4iAWc"><span>— </span> a recurrence when at least one of the subtasks is completed. </span></span></span></p><p><span class="VIiyi" lang="en"><span class="JLqJ4b" data-language-for-alternatives="en" data-language-to-translate-into="ru" data-number-of-phrases="1" data-phrase-index="0"><span class="Q4iAWc"> </span></span></span></p><p><span class="VIiyi" lang="en"><span class="JLqJ4b" data-language-for-alternatives="en" data-language-to-translate-into="ru" data-number-of-phrases="1" data-phrase-index="0"><span class="Q4iAWc">Suppose, you have the repeating task "Gym Workout". In the MyLifeOrganized <a href="https://www.mylifeorganized.net/" target="_blank"><span style="color: #444444;">task management</span></a> app, we recommend setting up automatic backup and archiving so that you don't have to worry about such issues at all.<br /><br /></p><h3 style="text-align: left;">Why you need a backup</h3><p style="text-align: left;">Sometimes there are situations in which data can be lost or corrupted. Most often this happens due to a device system failure or simply by negligence. But no matter what happens, with the help of the backup in MLO you can restore your data without much effort.<br /><br /></p><h4 style="text-align: left;">Automatic backup in desktop version</h4><p style="text-align: left;">In the desktop version the backup option is enabled by default. With each "save" action, MLO creates one previous copy of the file, which you can open at any time in case of any problems with the main file. For more information on how to restore data from a backup, refer to this <a href="https://www.mylifeorganized.net/support/restore-from-backup/" target="_blank"><span style="color: #6aa84f;">guide</span></a>.<br /><br />Thus, the standard backup saves the state of the file one step back. However, it does not allow you to return what you had a couple of days ago. To do this, you need to enable advanced backup.<br /><br /></p><h4 style="text-align: left;">Advanced backup in desktop version</h4><p style="text-align: left;">For greater confidence in the safety of your data, we recommend enabling Advanced Backup. It allows you to keep several recent copies, as well as automatically create a backup file once a day / week / month.<br /><br />You can find this option in Tools → Options → Backup.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg6eWgBH_30tVERbYRIjraR7Fg9M5oGfnx4rA1v3OL1br9q23ZL5nFxxXXqtky8KtUweVnsuFop7rublEHHGo5lPPzi6I54TYj1GvL-Et152twL-YGGTabK7DV5Fa3inNwGZarqgXA-bgD_ri0zMiprhSdPS1HrbzEAhUw_658EtZxVbxSitvZFPdtFcA/s1038/Screenshot_1.png" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="695" data-original-width="1038" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg6eWgBH_30tVERbYRIjraR7Fg9M5oGfnx4rA1v3OL1br9q23ZL5nFxxXXqtky8KtUweVnsuFop7rublEHHGo5lPPzi6I54TYj1GvL-Et152twL-YGGTabK7DV5Fa3inNwGZarqgXA-bgD_ri0zMiprhSdPS1HrbzEAhUw_658EtZxVbxSitvZFPdtFcA/s16000/Screenshot_1.png" /></a></div><br /><p style="text-align: left;"><br /></p><p style="text-align: left;"></p><p style="text-align: left;"></p><p style="text-align: left;"></p><p style="text-align: left;"></p><p style="text-align: left;"></p><span style="color: #666666;"><i></i></span></div><div><span style="color: #666666;"><i>Tip. Enable Advanced Backup even if you are using Cloud synchronization. Here is a simple example: a user accidentally deleted important tasks and closed MLO. This started the sync, and as a result, tasks were deleted from everywhere, from all synced devices. Now they can be restored only from a previous copy of the data file, that is, from a backup.<br /></i></span><span style="color: #666666;"><span style="font-size: 16px;"><i><br /></i></span></span></div><h4 style="text-align: left;">Backup in mobile version</h4><p style="text-align: left;">In the mobile application, unlike the desktop, there is no automatic backup. Therefore, if you only use the mobile app, we recommend that you periodically back up your profile.<br /><br />To create a backup (Pro version) go to Settings-> Back up Profile -> Create -> save this file locally or wherever you see fit.<br /><br /></p><h3 style="text-align: left;">What is Archive</h3><p style="text-align: left;">You perform tasks day after day, and the profile grows, slowing down the application, cluttering the current view and creating discomfort. How to solve this problem? It's hard to manually find all the old completed tasks. In addition, you may not want to delete them completely, but leave them just in case or for reference. What is the optimal solution in these cases? Archive!<br /><br />Archiving in MLO moves old completed tasks to another file, freeing up the current one and leaving them for other purposes in another profile.<br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiumoH7Fun6wX07n9nEZIuWn3SI66cill85MjTL7FNZuX7F0iDXACRH2AxaoZng8qlT2LVRU34nmHzpZ3JYIBeqABIipUUaXLvIBW2g0SXeHEu-I-tv2sb3dzOERWg3a1gWMhTJpmrozX-pKetMPhrJng1dNMM0HfB6VbsQQNG4t7yN7oLJmOWASkwxjA/s1032/Screenshot_2.png" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="694" data-original-width="1032" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiumoH7Fun6wX07n9nEZIuWn3SI66cill85MjTL7FNZuX7F0iDXACRH2AxaoZng8qlT2LVRU34nmHzpZ3JYIBeqABIipUUaXLvIBW2g0SXeHEu-I-tv2sb3dzOERWg3a1gWMhTJpmrozX-pKetMPhrJng1dNMM0HfB6VbsQQNG4t7yN7oLJmOWASkwxjA/s16000/Screenshot_2.png" /></a></div><br /><p style="text-align: left;"><br /></p><h4 style="text-align: left;">Where and how to archive</h4><p style="text-align: left;">If you use MLO on multiple devices that are synchronized with each other, then you should archive on only one device. Best on the desktop, because you can set up automatic archiving there:<br /><br />1. Go to Tools → Options → AutoArchive.<br />2. Check AutoArchive every N days/day.<br />3. Configure the rest of the AutoArchive settings.<br />4. Click OK<br /></p><p style="text-align: left;">Or, you can archive manually when you need it: just go to File -> Archive<br /><br />In the mobile application (Pro version), the "Archive/Delete tasks" option can be found in the settings. At the end of this post, I invite you to discuss the new features.</i></p><p><br /></p><p><i>Andrey Tkachuk, </i></p><p><i>CEO & Founder of <a href="https://www.mylifeorganized.net/" target="_blank"><span style="color: #6aa84f;">MyLifeOrganized</span></a></i></p><p><br /></p><p><i><b>(Updated on Feb 1, 2023) </b>It has been almost a year since the war began. During this time, in spite of all the hardships, we have managed to release a new version for Windows. I am eternally grateful for your support, it would have been much harder without it. Recently I wrote a couple of articles on <a href="https://medium.com/@andriy_mlo" target="_blank"><span style="color: #6aa84f;">Medium</span></a> about how I came back to my hometown, how I have to work during the shelling, and how I am trying to live a normal life. </i></p><div><br /></div><p><br /></p><h4 style="text-align: left;">What MLO means to me and who helps me develop it</h4><p>For more than 15 years I have been leading the development of MLO. Initially, I created this program for myself (<a href="https://blog.mylifeorganized.net/2015/05/mylifeorganized-history.html" target="_blank"><span style="color: #6aa84f;">here</span></a> you can learn more about how it happened), and I could not imagine that my product would be loved by hundreds of thousands of users around the world. Now MLO is my main project.<br /> </p><p>We have a small core team working on our <a href="https://www.mylifeorganized.net/" target="_blank"><span style="color: #444444;">task management</span></a> program, consisting of several developers and a customer care specialist. We also actively recruit third-party specialists on a contract basis (design, cloud, marketing, translations, specific mobile development, etc.).</p><p><br />I should note the fact that the development from the very beginning has been carried out only at my own expense without attracting third-party investments.</p><p style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px;"><br /></p><h4 style="text-align: left;">How we are working during the war</h4><p style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px;">As many of you know, our team is from Ukraine, from Kharkiv. This is the second largest city in Ukraine. Beautiful <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2KUwdhFWsLE" target="_blank"><span style="color: #6aa84f;">city of IT</span></a> specialists and scientists. Russians have been trying to destroy our city since the very first days of the war, but it heroically resists! It hurts and scares us to see that our Kharkiv is among the leaders in terms of the number of destructions (it is easy to find it on the map by looking at <a href="https://ukraine.bellingcat.com/" target="_blank"><span style="color: #6aa84f;">this</span></a> infographic). <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ai2bgElLmmU" target="_blank"><span style="color: #6aa84f;">This</span></a> is how we remember our Kharkiv before the war. And <a href="https://youtu.be/VAsf6dsq3rQ" target="_blank"><span style="color: #6aa84f;">this</span></a> (also <a href="https://www.facebook.com/100000667733948/posts/4333036740061874/?d=n" target="_blank"><span style="color: #6aa84f;">th</span><span style="color: #6aa84f;">is</span></a>) what they're turning it into now...</p><p style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px;"><br /></p><p style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px;">Fortunately, most of us managed to leave the city for safer places in Ukraine and other countries, and became refugees. Despite the fact that we have gone to different places, we continue to work effectively remotely. Every kind word that we have received from you these days really supports us and gives us strength.</p><p style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px;"><br /></p><p style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px;">In general, everything that we are now witnessing and experiencing deserves a separate story. <span style="background-color: white;">But in this post, my point is that </span><b style="background-color: #d9ead3;">we continue to actively work</b><span style="background-color: white;"> on the application, and are now looking for new channels to promote our beloved app.</span></p><div><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: left;">If you are looking for a way to help us</h4><p style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px;">We welcome the international sanctions and have suspended sales of our products in Russia. It was a difficult decision for us (the Russian market accounted for a significant share of our sales), but what is going on is totally against our values and we cannot remain silent.</p><p style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px;"><br /></p><p style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px;">If you are looking for a way to support us, <b style="background-color: white;">the best way is to help us promote our app</b>. Tell others about us, leave a comment under a popular article, write to your favorite bloggers and tell them about us. Or share with us the contacts of bloggers, influencers and companies that can help us spread MLO and our story to more people.<br /><br /><span style="color: #666666;"><i><b>Upd</b>. Your honest reviews on MLO on <a href="https://www.capterra.co.uk/software/140120/mylifeorganized-mlo" rel="nofollow" target="_blank"><span style="color: #93c47d;">Capterra</span></a>, <a href="https://www.g2.com/products/mylifeorganized-mlo/reviews" rel="nofollow" target="_blank"><span style="color: #93c47d;">G2</span></a> and similar user review platforms would be greatly appreciated.</i></span><br /></p><p style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px;"><br /></p><p style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px;">You will also greatly support us if you <b style="background-color: white;">buy a <a href="https://www.mylifeorganized.net/cloud.shtml#subscription" target="_blank"><span style="color: #6aa84f;">Cloud</span></a> subscription now for future periods</b>. Even if you decide not to use the cloud, this way you donate and support financially the app development. A part of the funds will also go to volunteers who provide humanitarian assistance, and to our courageous army.</p><p style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px;"><br /></p><p style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px;">In addition, let us know if you or someone you know is participating in the hosting programs for refugees in the EU and the UK, and <b style="background-color: white;">is ready to host the families of our team members</b>. We have already gratefully accepted a kind offer from one of our users.</p><p style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px;"><br /></p><p style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px;">Any effort is much appreciated.</p><p style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px;"><br /></p><h4 style="text-align: left;">About your data</h4><p style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px;">Rest assured that your data is completely safe. We use Amazon Web Services for our cloud infrastructure. AWS data centers are located in the US and EU, so your data is not affected.</p><p style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px;"><br /></p><p style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px;">The application does not suffer in any way, because we do not have infrastructure and development servers in Ukraine. The team is distributed and continues to work effectively remotely.</p><p style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px;"><br /></p><h4 style="text-align: left;">Future plans</h4><p style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px;">Our previously outlined plans remain unchanged and we believe that we will be able to implement everything. We continue to develop our mobile versions and work on a major update for the desktop version.</p><div><div><br /></div></div><p style="text-align: left;"><b>About Mac version</b></p><p style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px;">We receive lots of questions about the Mac version. In short, it is still in our plans. We started working on it and stopped due to changes in Apple's plans (support for iPad on Mac, etc.). At the moment, speaking frankly, it is difficult to say something definite about the timing and free resources for development. I can only say that there is a strong desire to make a good version of MLO for Mac and we are not giving up on the plans. </p><p style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px;"><br /></p><p style="text-align: left;"><b>Plans for MLO 6 for Windows</b></p>We are now actively working on MyLifeOrganized desktop v.6, but we have not yet finalized the entire list of features that will be included. I just thought it might be interesting or even important for you to know who is behind the product you use on a daily basis. Here are some brief facts about me:<br /><br /></p><ul style="text-align: left;"><li>I grew up in the far north. This is where the northern lights and polar bears</li><li>My first exposure to programming was at school, when my father gave me a programmable calculator (!). Later I won prizes in programming competitions in Novosibirsk and Krasnoyarsk regions where I lived</li><li>I studied (by the way, my thesis was about artificial intelligence) and live in Ukraine</li><li>Made my way from a programmer and project manager to Director — Program Management in international software development companies</li><li>I started writing things down on a piece of paper at school in order to keep up with everything, when the workload increased and I began to go to multiple classes. I came up with different systems. I dreamed that in the future there would be a convenient tool for this. And the dream came true:)</li><li>I learned about GTD after the first releases of MLO <span>—</span> MLO users told me!</li><li>The best ideas about new MLO features come during my morning bike rides in the forest, the global ones come after the second week of vacation :)</li><li>I am fond of psychology, Krav Maga, smart home, building self-sustaining systems, history</li><li>I have been acting in amateur theater for the last few years</li><li>Fan of healthy food. I try to eat less light carbohydrates, no snacks and sugar, no meals after 4 p.m.</li><li>Get energized by meeting interesting people, walking in the forest, fitness, healthy food, documentaries or thought-provoking movies, playing a game of mafia, listening to historical streams </li><li>Love meeting MLO fans and beta testers in person (we had meetings in Kyiv, New York and Chicago)</li><li>Very pleased and proud of our Beta team</li><li>Before the pandemic, with my wife and children we traveled twice a year to different countries. We mostly stayed with local families (via Airbnb and Couchsurfing) to understand from the inside how people live in each country, what and where they eat, how much they pay taxes, bills, etc.</li><li>A few years ago I realized that business was taking me away from my family and from myself. I had to establish new processes and restore a healthy balance by introducing new schedules and priorities.</li><li>I know that good sales come from either 1) lots of marketing or 2) product quality and attention to detail. I prefer the second.</li><li>I treat the project with love, because it helps me and other people enjoy life (I see this every time I read your reviews!)</li><li>I personally develop the desktop version and cloud sync. Over the years, the team included from 2 to 10 developers and other specialists. Development and support of mobile versions are the most expensive, while bringing the least income.</li><li>I enjoy finding a balance between simplicity and complexity, design and functionality, user desires and our capabilities.</li></ul><p><br />One of my new hobbies is drumming. Ever since college I wanted to try it. I really feel a surge of energy and, in addition, it is a great stress reliever! What hobbies have you discovered lately? Please share, I'm curious.<br /><br />In the next post I want to tell you about what new features I plan to add to the next version of MLO<a href="https://www.mylifeorganized.net/" target="_blank"><span style="color: #444444;"> task manager</span></a> for desktop. They display the blocks that make up an active day: @Home, @Office, @Calls, and so on.</p><p><br /></p><p><u>Tags</u> can be used for people you interact with. It is convenient to select tags from a drop-down list or assign them with hotkeys.</p><p><br /></p><p>Features of tags, unlike contexts:</p><p><br /></p><p></p><ul style="text-align: left;"><li>You can only assign one tag. And this is good, because even if it is a group of people, only one person is responsible for the task, on whose court the ball is now.</li><li>If the tag is not assigned to any task, then it automatically disappears from the list. Thus, you do not spend time searching among irrelevant contacts.</li></ul><p></p><p><u><br /></u></p><p><u>Flags</u> can indicate the status of a task in relation to a person: assign, await, discuss, etc.</p><p><br /></p><p>Before the meeting, switch the view to "Active by flags" and set an additional filter by tag. You can see a quite interesting set of <i>context + tag + flag + task name</i>.</p><p><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjYB-o8vC2NjZdvGSIWemnaS-wrbYzGn0a5NEV0j_6UjqFwCNbA92eUVh0IdtM_WIkUc1Q7jJyVoNVuV4gUKJaaUckYy9qBptoxMFeNhXKY8C834YrLgolQCunnjLpj2vOoDkoEXcnbPXX767oqlMS2eFtfeGaa9sUSYZGUunJoSeqhTtRPTXSvVwtdBw=s1200" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="630" data-original-width="1200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjYB-o8vC2NjZdvGSIWemnaS-wrbYzGn0a5NEV0j_6UjqFwCNbA92eUVh0IdtM_WIkUc1Q7jJyVoNVuV4gUKJaaUckYy9qBptoxMFeNhXKY8C834YrLgolQCunnjLpj2vOoDkoEXcnbPXX767oqlMS2eFtfeGaa9sUSYZGUunJoSeqhTtRPTXSvVwtdBw=s16000" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">This is just an example.
