We are excited to announce new feature of MLO Cloud - Task By Email. When you send email to a special address it is automatically moved to <Inbox> folder in your Cloud file and then synced to your MLO Client.
How to configure Task By Email feature:
1) Login to your MLO cloud account:
https://sync.mylifeorganized.net/mlo/Login.aspx
2) Click "Stored Files" on the left
3) Locate your data file and click "Task by email" on the right for this file
4) Enter your secret email address in the field.
For example: "BobMLOTasks"
5) Now you can send emails to "BobMLOTasks@sync.mylifeorganized.net" and they will be converted to tasks in your <Inbox>. The text of the email will be placed to task notes
Please note that only plain text is placed to the task notes. Attachments are not supported.
We are working on improving the functionality of this feature. For example to move the task in a specified project or set a context.
To protect from spam we implemented the following:
1) You can set "Allowed senders". Emails sent from other addresses will be ignored and not placed to your cloud file.
2) You can change your secret email at any time if your current email was compromised by spammers.
3) It is not allowed to send more then 60 emails per hour to your account. If more emails sent they are ignored.
Andrey.

Great Job!
ReplyDeleteWorks well, an excellent additional tool
ReplyDeleteHi there, now that email to task is available, couldn't you just send one daily digest with the tasks that are due the day? it should be pretty feasible, right?
ReplyDeleteWorks well !
ReplyDeleteVery good enhancement !
Many thanks.
Doesn't import correctly from Microsoft Outlook. There is a lot of junk in the task notes. Looks like this...

Please send your email to the cloud again but add “TBE DEBUG” to the subject. This email will be sent to the development team for analysis of the issue.
ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteI want to create some daily task. How to do that?
Hi,
ReplyDeleteHow long time after sending(via gmail) and adding this task to my file usually?
I found around 3 - 5 minutes, but haven't tested a lot.

DeleteGood feature. Why not to make it available for Wi-fi sync?
ReplyDeleteI see that this was originally posted 4 years ago. I am relatively new to MLO and have been using the email task feature. I'm just curious when the 'improved functionality' mentioned in the original post is coming? I miss the ability to set a start date, folders, etc from an email task. Those were features that were available in my old system but I was willing to live without (hopefully for a short time) to gain the improvements of the MLO system.
ReplyDeleteLook forward to the capability to specify folder/project, context, start date, due date, etc.
ReplyDeleteHow do I specify in the email subject line or body of the email to associate it with a particular project or folder?
ReplyDeleteThat's the million dollar question that I think many of us are waiting for. It is the biggest frustration I have since switching over to mlo. Other systems have this feature but for whatever reason mlo has seemingly ignored requests for this feature. Mlo us still a great application but it should work help my work flow if some of these features would be implemented into the task by email feature.
ReplyDeleteDoesn't import correctly from EVERNOTE. There is a lot of junk in the task notes. Looks like this...

Still wondering when the additional functionality mentioned in the original post is coming. We are approaching 5 years since the original feature came out. I considered moving to Todoist for this feature but Todoist just doesn't quite meet my requirements. Todoist does a great job of cooperating with other services such as email and also Zapier (another one of my favorite time savers). Any word from MLO staff would be awesome!
ReplyDeleteI do have the same question as you have....
DeleteI even bought 1 year of todoist for trying, however it can not replace of MLO.
Anyhow, we still want MLO can support more services, at the very last, please let the 「task by email」 feature support the 「Input parsing」 feature so that we can make the custom email to add the task.
I am lining up in the queue of people being very interested in when we can apply some parsing functionality. Doesn't even have to be the full input parsing - but at least the basics like folders and contexts.
ReplyDeleteIt would really help A LOT in setting up a workflow where different kinds of tasks can be channeled in from different sources. Without adding extra work of sorting it out in the inbox afterwards.
I think both Evernote and Trello let you do it by Gmail filter. Agh wish I could get all the features in just one service.
