Basic concept in MLO: Views and Tabs

In this post we'd like to briefly describe the difference between Tab and View, so that you do not get confused by them and do not lose the desired to-do list, for example, if you accidentally closed the tab.

Definition

| View is a set of filters applied to the list of tasks. The available Views are displayed on the left.

| Tabs (or Workspaces) are displayed at the top. Tab is a page that displays:

  • the selected view,
  • highlighted tasks,
  • zoom
  • other additional settings for the task list.

Tabs allow you to quickly switch between different task lists and their parts. In one tab, you can zoom into the current project, in another open a view with tasks for this week.

Tip. For more information on views and tabs, refer to our User Guide.

Saving changes to the task list

When you change the filtering parameters (for example, set filters by context), the changes are made in just the tab where you were working. These changes are "retained" there, but not saved. "Retained" in this case means that you can close MLO and even turn off your computer without risk of losing them. When you eventually restart MLO, your tab will still be there and it will still have the changes (still not saved) to your view. But if you close the tab, and then want to get back to it, you will have to re-add all the necessary filters to the basic view.

Therefore, if you want to use your own set of filters in the future, you should save it as a new view:

After any future changes to the view, you can return it to its original state ("Discard changes" button).

Tip: A view that has changes is marked with an asterisk next to the name (as in the screenshot above). If there is no asterisk, then you have an unmodified saved version of the view open.
